Following up on the success of his Holden’s Promise novel, award-winning, island author Bob Adamov has released his 20th novel, Alone At Home – Southport Senior Shenanigans.
Adamov, a 75-year-old avid fan of the classic Christmas film Home Alone, has crafted a unique version tailored for senior citizens with the escapades of a cranky senior left alone at home. “I aimed to create a humorous and engaging Christmas tale with a redemptive theme that resonates with my fellow seniors,” Adamov shared. He added with a chuckle, “My wife often says that many of the funny situations experienced by the main character, George Ivers, are inspired by my own life misadventures.”
Alone At Home is not part of his string of island bestsellers in the popular Emerson Moore series that includes Rainbow’s End, Pierce the Veil, When Rainbows Walk, Promised Land, The Other Side of Hell, Tan Lines, Sandustee, Zenobia, Missing, Golden Torpedo, Chincoteague Calm, Flight, Assateague Dark, Sunset Blues, White Spider Night, a 20th anniversary edition of Rainbow’s End, Sawdust Joint and Holden’s Promise plus Memory Layne.
The Story in Brief – Alone At Home
In Southport, North Carolina, a Christmas tale unfolds when 80-year-old George Ivers is left alone at home while his wife visits a sister for five days. George has to watch the cat he dislikes, resulting in a series of comical escapades. Picture a man who’s a blend of the gruffness of Archie Bunker, the stone-age charm of Fred Flintstone, and the nearsighted blunders of Mr. Magoo, and you’ve got George.
His days are filled with hilarious mishaps, from a battle of wits with a cheeky seagull to the relentless interruptions by neighbors. George’s quest for peace is perpetually sabotaged by the precocious grandson of the lady next door among other uproarious incidents.
Alone At Home is a heartwarming story of redemption. As George grapples with a haunting memory, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery. It’s a Christmas classic in the making, peppered with wit, the resilience of the human spirit, and the transformative power of forgiveness.
