October 16-17, 2010 will mark the 30th anniversary of the NC Oyster Festival, which will be hosted by the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce at nearby Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.

Awarded North Carolina Event of the Year 2007 by the North Carolina Association of Festivals and Events, the 29th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival will feature: Live entertainment, a road race, a surf contest, kids area, over 120 arts & crafts vendors and 13 food vendors, North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championships and an Oyster Stew Cook-off.

Admission is only $5 and free for children under the age of 8.
The festival is located on the island of Ocean Isle Beach on 2nd Street (beside the Museum of Coastal Carolina).
Each year, over 45,000 people, including locals and visitors, attend the North Carolina Oyster Festival to pay homage to the mighty mollusk.
If you’re not a fan of the oyster don’t let that stop you. There are all kinds of food vendors with everything from Greek gyros to cheesesteaks to homemade ice cream (not to mention funnel cakes, cotton candy and burgers and hot dogs).
